Meet Eli Hutchins, Owner of Hutch’s Tree

The owner, Eli Hutchins, graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 2005 and obtained a BS in forestry from UVM in 2010. Hutch’s Tree was incorporated in 2011.  Eli has held his ISA Certified Arborist credential for 14-years on top of the standard Maine Arborist Licensing.  He is husband to Dianna Hutchins and father to two girls, Grace and Rowan.  Playing in the Maine woods as a kid and growing up with a sense of fascination and wonder about the natural world led him to this profession; well, once professional sports became unrealistic!  Now, with a family of his own, the importance of stewardship and integrity has been reinforced.  Ensuring that future generations get to enjoy our beautiful state as we have.

Hutch’s Tree is different because of what happens before the saws even start. We take the time to discuss the possible solutions to a problem or advise on avoiding future problems.

Hutch’s Tree has grown steadily, constantly investing into new equipment and most importantly investing in people.  We now have numerous highly-skilled licensed arborists on staff.  With as many as five climbing arborists as well as a full ground crew we increase productivity, the quality of work, and ultimately save you money.  We can complete jobs in a fraction of the time it did in the past.

In 2024

Our addition of an 100’ spider lift has both increased productivity and safety immensely.  It is self-propelled and still fits through a 3.5-foot-wide gate, allowing us access to even the hardest to reach places.

We added a 12,000-lb excavator with a mulching head to efficiently clear large areas of smaller vegetation and to help with the removal of stumps

In 2025

We have acquired a 2024 50-yard western star grapple truck with a 32’ loader to expedite the removal of material from job sites, again increasing productivity!

Secondly, we have added a Vermeer Mini skid with a grapple to help the crew removal material from areas with much tighter access that used to require a lot of manual labor and way more time.

We are the only company in our service area with multiple active and in-good-standing credential holders from the International Society of Arboriculture, which is above and beyond the requirements of the state.

Don’t let two guys with a rope and a chainsaw ruin your day!

Tree climbing and the understanding of tree physiology have come a long way in the past 20 years.

A better understanding of proper care and industry accepted techniques are available to those interested enough to care. At Hutch’s Tree, we care. We guarantee your trees will be better off upon completion.

We advocate spike-less, rope & harness climbing.  The trees pruned are going to be healthier when we’re done… not wounded by spike holes.  This allows us to access trees with minimal disturbance in hard-to-reach places a bucket truck could never get to.

We are covered by general liability, workman’s compensation, auto, and inland marine insurance policies provided by our local broker, Chalmers Insurance.  Feel free to ask for any documentation you need.

We are the only company in our service area with not 1, but multiple active and in-good-standing credential holders from the International Society of Arboriculture. This is above and beyond the requirements of the state and separates us from many other services in the area as most of our crew carries advanced credentials that other companies don’t have at all. The knowledge comparison from an ISA arborist compared to one who is not is vast!

We are recognized by International Society of Arboriculture as Tree Risk Assessment Qualified also known as TRAQ Certified.
